Vincent Kompany\u2019s Bayern Munich visit Real Madrid high on confidence and looking like Europe\u2019s most complete side, bolstered by the likely return of superstar striker Harry Kane.<\/p>\n

Kane, who has scored 48 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions this season, missed Bayern\u2019s battling 3-2 Bundesliga win at Freiburg on Saturday with an ankle issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019d play in a wheelchair,\u201d said Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich, while Kompany added that he had \u201ca feeling\u201d that the England striker would be ready to face Madrid.<\/p>\n

Despite Madrid\u2019s prestige and troupe of attacking stars \u2013 Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham included, as well as City hat-trick hero Federico Valverde \u2013 Bayern are arguably favourites to lift the trophy.<\/p>\n

Record 15-time winners Madrid have endured a difficult season, plagued by inconsistency, but have made a habit of pulling off the unexpected in this competition.<\/p>\n

Just as it seemed their well of Champions League magic was running dry, Madrid produced their best performance<\/a> of the season to crush Pep Guardiola\u2019s Manchester City in the last 16.<\/p>\n

With Michael Olise and Luis Diaz joining Kane in attack, Kompany\u2019s side play an aggressive, high-pressing style which helped them demolish Atalanta in the last 16, 10-2 on aggregate.<\/p>\n

Bayern came from two goals down to beat Freiburg at the weekend and match-winner Lennart Karl said that fighting spirit was crucial heading into the Madrid clash.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gives us a lot of confidence. It was very important \u2013 we actually feel unbeatable at the moment,\u201d he said, with Bayern\u2019s last defeat coming in January, 14 matches ago.<\/p>\n

In that same period Madrid have lost four times, with coach Alvaro Arbeloa struggling to find the right balance when all his superstars are fit, just like Xabi Alonso and Carlo Ancelotti before him.<\/p>\n

\u2018I know what my players are capable of\u2019<\/h2>\n

Madrid fell to a disappointing defeat at Mallorca in La Liga on Saturday, leaving them seven points behind rivals Barcelona<\/a> in the Spanish title race.<\/p>\n

Arbeloa brushed off the defeat and said it would have no bearing on his team\u2019s performance against Bayern, in the club\u2019s favoured competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know what my players are capable of, I know they understand the importance of Tuesday\u2019s game,\u201d Arbeloa told reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe demand on the team will be maximum and I know the support that Madrid fans will offer us \u2013 with them, everything is easier.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernabeu demands \u2018nerves of steel\u2019<\/h2>\n

Bayern are well aware of the impact of Madrid\u2019s supporters on big European nights at the Bernabeu, which, along with the weight of history and sublime individual quality, helps Los Blancos pull off remarkable results even when the odds are against them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the stadium and the fans who, together with the team, transform into a hurricane that sweeps over the opponent,\u201d said Bayern powerbroker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.<\/p>\n

Two Bayern players who understand that more than most are goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, who have both cracked in the Bernabeu pressure cooker before.<\/p>\n

No teams have faced each other more in the competition, with Tuesday\u2019s match the 29th occasion Madrid will meet Bayern.<\/p>\n

    First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is Real Madrid\u2019s biggest absentee as a thigh injury picked up during the last 16 second-leg win over Man City has ruled him out for about six weeks. Andriy Lunin is set to play between the sticks again in Courtois\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n

    Rodrygo is also sidelined with an injury, while Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos are doubts.<\/p>\n

    However, key midfielder Federico Valverde is set to return to the side after serving a suspension in La Liga.<\/p>\n
