Algerian boxer \u200cImane Khelif says she will comply with genetic \u200dtesting requirements to be able to participate in competitions \u200das long as the tests are conducted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).<\/p>\n

Khelif won gold in the women\u2019s welterweight \u2060division at the Paris Games in 2024 during a \u200bgender dispute over her eligibility after the International \u200dBoxing Association disqualified her from the 2023 World Championships based on sex chromosome tests.<\/p>\n

World Boxing, which will oversee boxing competitions at the \u200d2028 Olympics \u2060in Los Angeles after being granted provisional recognition by the IOC, in May announced mandatory sex testing for all boxers in its competitions. Khelif, who lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over World Boxing\u2019s decision to bar her from \u200bevents unless she undergoes genetic sex \u200ctesting, said she would undergo the testing only if it is administered by the IOC.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I would accept doing anything I\u2019m required to \u200cdo to participate in competitions,\u201d Khelif told CNN.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should protect women, but they \u200cneed to pay attention that while \u2060protecting women, they shouldn\u2019t hurt other women.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not transgender. I\u2019m a woman. I want to live my life. Please do not exploit me in \u200cyour political\u202fagendas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old said she was hopeful of getting justice from the CAS.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not surrender until I have justice because \u200dI know justice is on my side above all else,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
