Italy\u2019s Transport Minister Matteo Salvini says \u2018lives at risk\u2019 as services between Milano Cortina Games hit.<\/em><\/p>\n

Trains \u200coperating through the heart of Italy \u2060suffered delays \u2060of more than an hour on Saturday following the latest suspected act of sabotage \u2060during the 2026 Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

Services between Naples in the south and the capital, Rome, were affected, and \u2060there were also delays on the line heading north towards Florence.<\/p>\n

Transport Minister Matteo Salvini condemned those behind the incidents following similar problems last Saturday on \u200cthe network and another, less serious case midweek.<\/p>\n

The stoppages come as Italy hosts the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo from February 6-22.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are hateful criminal acts aimed at workers and at Italy,\u201d Salvini said \u2060in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that \u2060no one plays down or tries to justify these crimes which put lives at risk,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The authorities were investigating burned \u2060cables on a section of the high-speed line between Rome and \u2060Naples on Saturday, and two \u2060other possible acts of vandalism between the capital and Florence.<\/p>\n

An anarchist group claimed responsibility for an attack on the network last \u200cSaturday, the first full day of the games, when rail infrastructure was damaged near Bologna, causing \u200cdelays \u200cof up to two and a half hours on high-speed, intercity and regional services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
