Emergency services are responding to a “serious incident” at the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

In a statement posted on its website, the visitor attraction said its emergency response procedures had been “immediately activated” and it was “working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened”.

The park, near Doncaster, will remain closed for the remainder of the weekend, it added.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it had been called at 13:33 BST and deployed an air ambulance, two land ambulances and a doctor. The BBC has contacted the park and South Yorkshire Police for further details.

The park said the safety and wellbeing of its visitors, staff and animals “remain our highest priority”.
