The Traitors is to get a spin-off series, which will show players who have been eliminated finding out who the traitors are.

The reality TV hit, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, is due to return in early 2024, and will be accompanied by The Traitors: Uncloaked on BBC Two and iPlayer.

It will include interviews with banished and murdered contestants “and bonus unseen footage where they learn the identity of the Traitors for the very first time”, the BBC said.

“How will they react when they discover who has been betraying them?”

The Traitors: Uncloaked will be hosted by Ed Gamble and will also be available as a podcast on BBC Sounds.

The nightly roundtable discussions give the players a chance to banish suspected traitors

The show will feature cast members and celebrity guests dissecting each episode and providing reaction and analysis.

“The first series of The Traitors was my absolute obsession, and I cannot wait to delve deep into series 2 and dissect all the twists and turns it has to offer. It goes without saying that I am 100% faithful,” Gamble said.

The Traitors’ first series brought together 22 players at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands.

Upon arrival, three were secretly told they were traitors. The other contestants – known as faithfuls – had to root them out, provided they could survive themselves.

The traitors could “murder” one player every night, removing them from the game.

A possible jackpot of £120,000 could be won by the faithfuls who made it to the end. However, if any traitors made it to the final undetected, they could take all the money instead.

The series has had 34 million views on BBC iPlayer, and a third series has already been confirmed.

The show, which scooped a host of awards including a Bafta and a National Television Award, was the BBC’s highest-rated new entertainment series since at least 2017 for young audiences.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, BBC head of entertainment, said: “Expect to see more psychological gameplay, exciting challenges and of course Claudia at the helm.

“It will be a thrilling ride for both avid fans and newcomers to the series for sure.”
